Job Function: Maintenance & Inspection Engineer
Job Summary:
This role plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity and safety of our petrochemical plants. You'll be responsible for the health of static equipment, which forms the backbone of our production process. This equipment indudes storage tanks, pipelines, and other vessels that are critical for containing and transporting process materials.
Responsibilities:
Your primary objective is to prevent corrosion-related failures that could lead to safety hazards, environmental damage, and production disruptions. You'll achieve this through a combination of proactive strategies, including:
- Static Equipment Inspection: You'll conduct thorough inspections of tanks, pipes, and other static equipment using various techniques like visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, and thickness gauging. This will allow you to detect signs of corrosion before they become serious threats.
- Data Analysis and Assessment: The data collected during inspections will be meticulously analyzed to assess the condition of the equipment, identify areas of concern, and determine the rate of corrosion progression. This analysis forms the basis for developing effective maintenance and mitigation plans.
- Root Cause Analysis and Recommendations: In the unfortunate event of a corrosion-related incident, you'll be responsible for investigating the root cause. This involves a deep dive into the factors that contributed to the failure, allowing you to identify corrective actions and preventative measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
- Developing Corrosion Control Strategies: Based on your inspection findings and analysis, you'll recommend and implement appropriate corrosion control strategies. This might involve selecting corrosion-resistant materials for new equipment, specifying protective coatings, or implementing cathodic protection systems.
- Project Management and Supervision: You may also be responsible for overseeing static equipment solution service projects. This involves managing budgets, timelines, and contractors to ensure the successful completion of corrosion mitigation or repair projects.
- Collaboration is Key: As a Corrosion Engineer, you'll work closely with various teams across the organization. This includes collaborating with plant operations personnel to understand process conditions and potential corrosion risks, with maintenance teams to ensure proper execution of inspection and mitigation plans, and with engineering teams to select appropriate materials and designs for new equipment.
- In Summary: This role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our petrochemical plants. Through your expertise in corrosion control, you'll play a key role in safeguarding our assets, preventing incidents, and ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.
